Monkeys and Killers dominate Brits

Arctic Monkeys and The Killers took most of the glory at this year's Brit Awards winning two gongs apiece.

The Monkeys won Best Album for Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not and Best British Group, while Las Vegas rockers The Killers capped off a great year scooping awards for Best International Group and Best International Album.

Just as she predicted, Lily Allen walked home empty handed, with the award for Best British Female going to good friend Amy Winehouse.

The Fratellis and James Morisson were the pick of the newcomers picking up an award each, while Take That's Patience was voted as Best British Single. The boys did by far the longest speech of the night but there was no room for a mention to rehab housed Robbie Williams.

Other winners included Orson, Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake and Muse while Outstanding Contribution winners Oasis closed the Earl's Court ceremony with a storming set kicked off by Cigarettes And Alcohol.
